Divide the table into quarters and label them 1-4.
Deployment:
Players deploy within 10 inches of their table edge, otherwise known as "standard" deployment.
Special Rules:
The game ends when a player's warcaster or warlock is defeated.
Setup:
Divide the table into quarters and label them 1-4.
Deployment:
Players deploy within 10 inches of their table edge, otherwise known as "standard" deployment.
Special Rules:
- At the end of each Control Phase, the active player rolls 1d6. On a roll of 1-4, place a 3" Pow 12 Blast template in the middle of that quarter. On a roll of 5-6, roll again.
- On a roll of 1-4, place a 4" Pow 14 Blast template in the middle of that quarter. On a roll of 5-6, roll again.
- On a roll of 1-4, place a 5" Pow 16 Blast template in the middle of that quarter. On a roll of 5-6, the active player chooses a quarter and places the template in the center of it.
- Once a template is placed, roll 1d6 for direction deviation. Roll 2d6 for distance deviation, with the active player choosing which die to use for the distance deviated.
The game ends when a player's warcaster or warlock is defeated.

Scenario - The Battle Below
Not all fights happen on the battlefield - this one happens below ground! This Warmachine/Hordes scenario features combat within a large cave.
Setup:
Make sure to place hills on the battlefield, as these represent the walls of the cave. Other types of terrain are still usable - woods for example could represent root systems or large areas of stalactites and stalagmites.
Deployment:
Players setup within 10 inches of their table edge, otherwise known as "standard" deployment.
Special Rules:
The game ends when a player's warcaster or warlock is defeated.
Setup:

Deployment:
Players setup within 10 inches of their table edge, otherwise known as "standard" deployment.
Special Rules:
- Hills represent the walls of the cave, and thus are impassable terrain.
- Contricted Space: Large warjacks and warbeasts count the entire table as rough terrain, as they must squeeze their way through the low ceiling.
- Structurally Unsound: Each time a model makes a ranged attack, they suffer a Pow 5+2d6 hit, as rocks and debris from above falls down upon them. This hit ignores bucklers, shields, and shield wall abilities.
The game ends when a player's warcaster or warlock is defeated.

Scenario - Sabotage
This Warmachine/Hordes scenario features an attacker and defender vying over three objectives. Can the defender hold out long enough, or will the attacker destroy the objectives?
Setup:
Player 1 is the defender and player 2 is the attacker.
Deployment:
Deployment zones are 10 inches from your table edge, known usually as "standard" deployment. During deployment, the defender places three objective markers within 4 inches from the center line of the table. The defender may also deploy one warjack, warbeast, solo, or unit within 3 inches of any objective.
Special Rules:
- Each objective marker has the following stats: Def 5, Arm 15, and 10 health.
- Objective markers are not alive and give no soul or corpse tokens upon defeat.
Ending the Game:
The game ends when either warcaster/warlock is defeated, or the attacker destroys all three objective markers (the attacker wins), or the game goes for six turns (the defender wins).

Scenario - Get the Grimoire
This Warmachine/Hordes scenario features a mystical tome either revered or reviled by your faction - you must get it at all costs and bring it back!
Setup:
Place an objective marker in the center of the battlefield. This is the grimoire you are attempting to take.
Deployment:
Each force can deploy up to 10 inches from their table edge. This is often referred to as "standard deployment".
Special Rules:
The game ends when either one player has carried the grimoire back to their deployment table edge, or only one player has any models left that are capable of picking up the grimoire.
Setup:
Place an objective marker in the center of the battlefield. This is the grimoire you are attempting to take.
Deployment:
Each force can deploy up to 10 inches from their table edge. This is often referred to as "standard deployment".
Special Rules:
- Only warcasters, warlocks, or solos with the Magic Ability may attempt to pick up the grimoire.
- To pick up the grimoire, the model must be in base contact with the objective marker.
- Any model in base contact with the objective marker cannot be targeted by ranged attacks.
- Picking up the grimoire does not take any actions.
- Once the grimoire is picked up, remove the objective marker.
- If a model carrying the grimoire leaves the battlefield, place the objective marker where the model was located at.
The game ends when either one player has carried the grimoire back to their deployment table edge, or only one player has any models left that are capable of picking up the grimoire.

Mayael the Anima Commander/EDH Deck
Here's a legend with a nifty ability just ripe to use as a commander. Mayael the Anima has a low mana cost and a powerful ability - six mana can net you some of the largest creatures ever to see play!
Since this is a Commander deck, we already know what colors we have to choose from. Green is king of the beasts, while red and white have some great additions as well as removal options.
Mayael's throwing a party of the biggest and baddest, so let's see who's on the guest list!

A Deck Based On: Seismic Assault
While a decent card on its own, Seismic Assault lends itself to making a deck around. Discarding a land to basically Shock something? Not a bad tradeoff, as long as you have the lands to spare.
Now how are we going to go about getting a ton of lands into our hand? By going green, of course! We're also splashing in a touch of white for some classic cards that deal with lands.
This is the kind of deck that simply enjoys mana clumps, so it's a win-win no matter what you draw.
Let the assault begin!

A Deck Based On: Varchild's War-Riders
Time for another quirky card to base a deck on! This time I'm using Varchild's War-Riders, which is an old card from the Alliances expansion and re-released in Magic Online's Masters Edition.
A mere two mana nets you a 3/4 creature with trample and rampage 1... but it has a drawback. It keeps giving your opponent 1/1 token creatures, and after a while those survivors are going to come back and get you!
Thankfully, red is already the main color of direct damage, and for good measure we're adding in black as well.

A Deck Based on: Lhurgoyf
Something I find fun is to find a quirky card and base a deck around it. I often hear friends name some random card and say, "What good is this card?", and I'll usually be able to come up with some combos with their supposedly useless card.
Today, I'm going to show off a deck based on a somewhat-quirky card that has a long history in Magic: the Lhurgoyf.
The Lhurgoyf is an iconic MtG card, spawning a number of similar cards - including more luhrgoyfs such as the Magnivore, Mortivore, and Tarmogoyf.
What makes the original somewhat of an oddball is that its ability is more suited to that of a black card than green. Black is the traditional color of graveyard love, so you have to work a bit to make green want a bunch of creatures in graveyards.
Time to dig up the list!

Jolrael Commander/EDH Deck
This deck focuses on getting as many lands out as possible then using them to beat the opponent down!
Not only does this commander's ability want you to have a lot of lands out, but so does many of the other cards in the deck.
You will definitely have to watch out for any major land destruction players, as they will cripple this deck severely - as this list doesn't yet include a sideboard, you may want to keep this in mind when building your own.
And now the list!

EDH becoming "Commander" - Gets Love from WotC
Aaron Forsythe's recent article from MagictheGathering.com shows some big things happening to the Elder Dragon Highlander format.
For starters, it's now officially known as "Commander", though the EDH term will likely still remain a popular title. Also, Wizards of the Coast has been working with the Rules Committee for EDH to get things set in motion.
Part of the announcement involves WotC's "hands off" approach to the banned list, as well as the introduction of a new multiplayer product coming out next year made especially for the format.

Borborygmos EDH Deck "History of Beatdown"
This deck features Borborygmos as its commander, but really any red/green legendary creature could suffice. It's not so much about the commander as it is the rest of the deck here.
This is what I call a "history" deck because not only is it Highlander format, but it also contains only one card from every set up through the Zendikar block. The original version of the deck was only 60 cards and stopped at the oldschool card format, thus I called it a "history" deck.
Not only will I display the deck, but also the set each card is from. Building a history deck is very challenging as you must pick one card from each set that fits your deck theme... then you have to go collect any cards you're missing which can be a task for those older sets!
On to the list!
Ob Nixilis EDH Deck
Here's a monoblack Elder Dragon Highlander deck featuring Ob Nixilis, the Fallen as the deck's commander.
There are a number of other legendary creatures in the deck, so you can pick and choose which one you want as your commander. I tend to stick with ObNoxious, I mean, Ob Nixilis as my commander because of some of the landfetch cards I have in the deck.
For those unfamiliar with the EDH format, the deck is exactly 100 cards with one of them being the commander. The commander must be a legendary creature. In addition, you can only have one copy of each card (excluding basic lands).
The format is a great deal of fun and is often played as a multiplayer format. I highly suggest checking it out.
